Patience in Medicine

Patience is truely a virtue. Unfortunately patience isn't plentiful in medicine today. Patience is key to arriving at the right diagnosis and treatment plan. I was told in medical school "just listen and the patient will give you the diagnosis." The longer I practice, the more this rings true. Lets exercise PATIENCE as healthcare providers and do what is right for our PATIENTS. Spend time to set and listen. Allow yourself the opportunity to really listen. This is an important step in becoming a real healer. If you are a patient and your healthcare provider doesn't seem to listen or allow open dialogue, I recommend you get a second opinion, if you know what I mean!
